Setting the RDNS / PTR records for your Dedicated server
In this article, you will learn how to set Reverse DNS(RDNS) records for your dedicated server from BGOcloud.
What is PTR / RDNS and why do I need it?
Reverse DNS records resolve an IP address to a domain. It is like resolving domains but in reverse.
RDNS records are used in Email delivery, where the Mail servers check if the messages come from valid servers. If there aren't any valid PTR records for the network, the servers will reject the message.
How do I set my RDNS / PTR records for my server?
The process is straightforward and takes a few clicks to change the record for your assigned IP addresses:
Step 1: Go to our Client Area and click on Products/Services
Step 2: Choose the server you wish to set the RDNS records for
Step 3: Open the IP-Management tab in the server control panel or scroll down to IP Assignments.
Step 4: Click on the RDNS record you wish to set and enter the domain.
Step 5: Press enter or the little tick next to the record and it will be saved.
After that, it will take a little time for the new record to propagate.
